The point of it all: get ideas out there even if you don't own a three piece suit or a lexus. Everyone has something to say. So say it. Submit it.
ANGLES
We want lots of articles on lots of different perspectives. Pretty much any thought provoking idea you have has the possibility to be an Angles piece. Make it fresh and interesting and send it our way. Email your submissions, questions and queries to juliana@sprymag.com.
POLITICAL AFFAIRS DESK
There is a lot of news out there. Take some it, take your opinion, pepper it was some tangy prose and be completely unobjective. We're not looking for scoops or long winded profiles (unless you're Tom Wolfe). Be bold. Excite us. Send submissions to tom@sprymag.com.
STARVING ARTISTS
We want to showcase emerging painters, sculptors, photographers, musicians, writers and poets. Send us your PDFs,
Jpegs, mp3s, short stories, poems whatever. (Short stories, no longer 4000 words. Poems, no more than three).
Send all art to lauren@sprymag.com.
ADVENTURE
We don’t want to hear about your week in the Bahamas and how many Mai Tais you had. Adventure is about the
experience (big or small), the people you met, the things saw, the trouble you got into….or out of. Did you sit on
a pillow, hit the hooka and eat Anada kebab for the first time? Did you save all your pennies for five years to
hike the Himalayas in search of enlightenment? Tell us! Tell us all about the little daily and life changing
adventures you’ve had. (Approximately 500 -2000 words.)
Send adventure submissions to christina@sprymag.com
SAUCE
What is sauce, you say? Sauce is sass and sauce is sex. On one hand, we are looking for blogs to link to, and also articles and columns regarding sexual health, trends, adventures and cautionary tales. On
the other hand, we want your sass. Have you stood up to "the man" or told your mother-in-law what your really
thought? Do you buck cultural norms in your relationship? Well, if it's well written, we just might want to hear about
it. And if you prefer to remain anonymous, we will understand.
Send Sauce submissions to leah@sprymag.com.
submission guidelines
ARTICLES/FICTION ETC.
* Make sure you give us your name and email address.
* We will not open attachments because we love our computers so just copy and paste your submission into the
body of the email.
HOW MANY? HOW MUCH?
* Keep it concise. Submissions totaling more that 4,000 words will not be considered.
* Submit up to 3 pieces at a time. Just make sure we know what’s what and that the submissions don’t run together.
Send us three separate emails if you have to.
ARTWORK
* Send us as many photos, paintings, mixed media, (whatever) that you want.
* Paste JPEGs in the body of the email if you can.
* Whatever artwork you send you MUST send a bio along with it. We want to showcase your work but we want to
showcase you as well. Your bio should be between 200-1000 words.
EDITING AND SUBMISSION RIGHTS
* SPRY reserves the right to edit your submissions for grammatical errors. We won’t change anything major without
contacting you first.
* If we publish your story or article you keep the rights to publish it elsewhere. However, letting us know that you are
submitting it to other publications is a nice heads up. Obviously we don’t want to duplicate content on another
website or in another publication.
COMPENSATION/HUGS AND KISSES
* Payment for pieces published on SPRY is in the form of love and recognition. Sorry ya'll, we're up and coming.
TACT AND DIGNITY
* SPRY’s whole schtick is about expressing yourself but we don’t want submissions that contain anything
pornographic or absurdly violent. Though SPRY is devoted to sharing your stories we want to do so in the most
dignified way possible.
ANYTHING ELSE???
* Have a great idea but feeling unsure if it's SPRY enough? Just query the appropriate editors, we'd love to hear from you.
